Sometimes the
writer's reason to write
is not to make his
readers understand,
but to make them
think.
Everyone wants to be
the master , to be the best , to be the
highest, to be the number one, to be on top; given the chance, no one wants to
be at the bottom. But
in the song "Water" by "Siddha", "Let me be like water
never striving to be high, always seeking the lowest point, and there gaze at lover's
eyes". In this song, the singer ‘songwriter’s desire is to be the lowest, the least, the
last, the servant of all.
There is no happiness
without peace,
and there is no peace
without love;
but even without
peace, there is love.
With all his powers,
the life of Jesus Christ (The Son of God) is a vivid display of gentleness,
kindness, tolerance, simplicity, humility, devotion. The worldly glories on
earth were offered to him, but what he chose was a lowly life in the street
with the sinners and the sick, to preach love and to serve his Father. Before he was betrayed, mocked, and crucified
on the cross, He washed the feet of His disciples; and while he was doing that,
he told them that the leader among them should be the servant of the rest. .
Self-love is the
least among love. Like lust it is selfish, but unlike lust it is peaceful. It
is not as joyful as love for neighbor and love for The Supreme Person. Self-love
is but a drop of water compared to Love for God's vast ocean. Self-love is a
neutral state of consciousness; it is in between love and lust. In ancient
times, battles are fought in a neutral ground; that is why, self-love, in a
sense, is a battlefield of love and lust.
In the Third Prayer
of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (The Golden Avatar) it states, "One
should chant the Holy Names of the Lord in the humble state of mind, feeling
oneself to be lower than the straw in the street, one should be more tolerant than
a tree, devoid of all sense of false prestige..". Chaitanya is a great
scholar and a renown debater, but he practiced and taught a spiritual process
which is considered by his critics to be so simple and fit only for ignorant
person and sentimentalist. Chaitanya is God Himself, and by his example He
taught us how to become a submissive follower of a bonafide teacher who said
that he is too ignorant to understand logic; that is why he was instructed to
chant a mantra that could cleanse a heart and could make anyone madly in
love with God.
God as Krishna, playing
the role of a cowherd boy in India five thousand years ago; showed us that
indeed, as what "SiddhaSwarupAnandaParamahamsa" said, "God sees the
humble but not the proud".
During the "RasaDance", the Gopis, knowing that Krsna is dancing with them, became
proud by thinking that they are the most fortunate women in the whole world;
indeed they are, but even for that thought alone, Krsna left them. Radharani was with Him when He left the Rasa Dance, but The Supreme Lord also left her
when she also became proud when she saw that Krsna left everyone except her.
Krsna loved the Gopis so much, but it appears that He just would not tolerate
even a tinge of self-esteem’s excess and over-valued self-worth.
Lovers of God can
control God. Probably this is one of the reasons why God is said to be
reluctant to be loved; and that is why to test the sincerity of aspiring
lovers, He went to that place where no one wanted to go. But devotees
(confidential friend and lovers of God) are more merciful than God; they knew
what is in God's heart and what really pleases Him. So to the searchers, they whispered,
"There, at the place so low is His Abode".
What is it in humbleness
that attracts God? Where is the joy in meekness and in being low? Was it enough
that God wants us to be humble for us to be humble? Was it worth it that in
exchange for all the hassle of being lowly is God? What is in this virtue of
humility? So many questions, so many answers, please forgive me if some of the
questions seemingly are leading to offensive answers or might would reveal
one's arrogance. Right now I am tired, and my limited knowledge had run out. I
can't speculate any longer to try to find the answer. But let me just remind
you that this blog is about a race, and the prize and all the answers are in
there at the finish line, at the lowest ground. Wednesday, June 27, 2012
NOTE; Jaya, (Victory) Truth, Wisdom, The Elixir, The Sweetest Nectar of Love for God awaits everyone who will reach the lowest ground.
